Employee Volunteerism

When it comes to community-minded businesses, Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s stand out. We put that belief into hands-on action through our award-winning employee volunteer program, Partners in Time. Founded in Atlanta in 1989, Partners in Time was successful from the outset, winning the Presidents’ Volunteer Action Award citation in its first year and quickly rolling out to every city we call home. And through those 26 years, its mission has been unwavering: sharing our time, indeed our magic, to make a difference.

Since the programs’ inception, dedicated volunteers have given more than 2.5 million hours of community service. That’s valued at more than $47 million to the thousands of charities we’ve impacted in 26 years of community service. In 2015, nearly 35,000 participants joined 3,700 community projects. Throughout its history, the Partners in Time program continued to be nationally recognized, receiving the Points of Light/ Hands On Network “Award for Excellence in Workplace Volunteerism,” among other honors.

Local communities are not the only ones to benefit from Partners in Time. Associates share a pride in working for a company that cares. We recognize that service opportunities build teams, promote multifunction collaboration, and develop leadership skills.
