Macy's Was Proud to be the Title Sponsor of the Macy's Music Festival

For the 7th year in a row, Macy’s was once again proud to host the Annual Macy’s Music Festival in Cincinnati July 29th and 30th, held at Paul Brown Stadium.

Over 50,000 people attended this two day festival featuring musical appearances by Charlie Wilson, Chaka Khan, Anthony Hamilton, Maze featuring Frankie Beverly, The Whispers, Zapp Band, KEM, Keyshia Cole, El DeBarge and Laura Izibor.

In the weeks leading up to the event, Macy’s and local radio station MOJO 100.3 offered a five week on air promotion offering 25 callers a chance to win a handbag stuffed with CDs, gift cards, gas cards, Macy’s gift cards, movie passes and MMF tickets. Three winners received a top of the line Coach bag.

At the Fountain Place store in downtown Cincinnati, several key events created anticipation for the evening concerts. The store hosted a Visitor and Tourism desk on the first floor for visitors to the city to redeem their bounceback cards from the hotels and from the mail (mailed out with their MMF tickets). Festival goers also received a community coupon when they showed their MMF tickets. There were festival programs available as well. Bobbi Brown cosmetics held a trunk show prominently on the store floor with focused cosmetic stations, giving customers an opportunity for makeovers before the concert. El DeBarge and KEM both made personal appearances in store to sign autographs and pose for photos.

At the concert itself, attendees were invited as they entered the stadium to pose in front of the Macy’s Music Festival backdrop and share their favorite Festival moments. Throughout the concert, these moments were edited and played on the Jumbotron during breaks in the acts. Each night concert goers could also enter to win a $500 Macy’s Gift Card.

The Macy’s Music festival, truly the event of the summer here in Cincinnati and the region, attracted concert goers from 28 of the 50 United States.

The Festival has proven to be an iconic event for the region, and will celebrate it’s 50th year in 2012 as the longest running R&B Festival of its kind.
